While these values have always been at the heart of our company, one person has played an extraordinary role in helping bring that vision to life over the past 13 years: Alexis Watine.
Alexis joined SurfMed at just 19 years old as a file clerk. From the very beginning, she approached every opportunity with curiosity, determination, and the belief that every process could be improved. It did not take long for her work ethic and leadership potential to stand out.
She quickly advanced into customer service, where her passion for learning led her to become SurfMed's first expert in our advanced software platform. After mastering the system, she trained fellow team members and helped modernize customer service operations across the company. At the same time, she expanded her responsibilities into compliance, logistics, and operational management, always looking for better ways to serve our patients, referral partners, and healthcare providers.
As Alexis continued her college education, she brought new ideas and emerging technologies back to SurfMed, helping the company stay ahead in an industry that is constantly evolving. Her ability to combine innovation with practical solutions has improved workflows throughout the organization and strengthened the experience for both employees and customers.
Over the years, Alexis has become a trusted partner to many of Florida's largest Managed Care Organizations. Health plans regularly rely on her expertise to identify operational challenges, improve efficiencies, and develop solutions that benefit providers and the patients they serve. Her collaborative approach, professionalism, and deep knowledge of the industry have earned the respect of colleagues and partners throughout the healthcare community.
Her leadership extends well beyond SurfMed. Alexis serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Alliance for Home Care Services, the state's leading association representing durable medical equipment providers. She also serves on the advisory board for Brightree, the nation's largest software platform serving the DME industry. In recognition of her outstanding leadership and impact, she was honored by Home Health Care News as the Outstanding DME Executive Under 40.
Throughout her career, Alexis has helped shape SurfMed into one of Florida's highest rated and most trusted durable medical equipment providers. Her leadership has been instrumental in strengthening our operations, embracing new technology, and preparing the company for continued growth.
Today, we are proud to recognize those contributions by announcing Alexis Watine as SurfMed's new Chief Operating Officer.
As Chief Operating Officer, Alexis will oversee the day to day operations of the company, guide strategic initiatives, lead our talented team, direct technology and operational development, manage budgets, and continue driving the innovation that has become a hallmark of SurfMed's success.
